The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
