Based on data released by Israel, no fewer than 98 Palestinians have lost their lives while detained starting from October 2023. A rights monitoring body located in Israel has reported that the true number is almost certainly significantly higher, because of numerous of missing detainees in Gaza.

Several casualties in confinement have been widely reported, including a senior hospital director who died in detention after four months in confinement.

A detainee incarcerated with the victim reported that he was taken to the courtyard by prison staff immediately preceding his demise, obviously hurt and unclothed from the hips downward. His remains remains unreleased to Gaza.

Other prisoners who died in Israeli custody stay unnamed. Detention administrators and armed services gave analysts with the total of fatalities in custody, and basic additional information such as the location where they died, but not the prisoners’ names.

Documentation Problems
